Autumn Free Training Session: 1st October Governance and Leadership of SEND
What you need to know and how you can make a difference
Location - Combs Ford Primary School, Glemsford Road, Stowmarket, IP14 2PN - 4.00pm -5.30pm
The number of SEND pupils is on the increase in Suffolk and across the country. We are putting on a 90-minute facilitated session to focus on the most vulnerable pupils in our schools, settings and system. This opportunity will be detailed in Suffolk Headlines in the coming weeks.
Target audience:
- - Trustees and local tier governors
- - Maintained school governors
- - Trust and school leaders
Outcomes for the session:
Anyone in a leadership/governance role will have improved:
- - Understanding of the national context and challenge
- - Knowledge of SEND within education
- - Roles and responsibilities across the tiers – from trustees, to school governors, leaders and staff
- - Strategies for SEND Specific Governance
The session has been designed and will be delivered by Rebecca Leek
Rebecca has been a SEND System Leader for a national academy trust, a primary and secondary SENCO, she has been an executive headteacher in Ipswich, and a CEO in Essex. She has been a maintained school governor, contributed to the Driver Youth Trust SEND Governance Guide, and is currently the chair of the Governance and Risk Committee for Suffolk Libraries. Her forthcoming book, The School Ready Governor, published by Bloomsbury, is due to be released in the autumn.
